‘Underneath We Are Women’ is an amazing photo book which fights the stereotypes of women’s beauty.

Created by Australian photographer Amy D Herrman, the book’s main goal is ‘to educate thousands’ by featuring ‘100 women, 100 bodies, 100 stories’ and showing their endless diversity. In the book, there are no judgments and no opinions of others – just honest photography.

26-year-old Amy Herrmann set herself the task 12 months ago to capture a variety of women from all backgrounds, of different shapes and abilities in their underwear to prove that every body is beautiful.

We’ve had a number of campaigns that have showed cellulite, plus sizes and all the rest of it. And this new photography project is taking the idea to a whole new level.

Now, halfway through the project, in which she has photographed 42 of the 100 women so far, Amy experienced some emotional moments: “Each day that we do these shoots, the women come in and they’re all nervous as heck and then they walk out with this completely changed attitude,” she told Daily Mail Australia.

“I don’t think I expected that, I think I just thought this was going to be an easy project where I photographed 100 different women, made a book and that would be it.”

“I didn’t realise this would be life changing for some women.”

Amy is now asking for help to complete the project and create a book that might even be shown in primary schools, as inspiration for younger girls.

On her Kickstarter page, which is a a global crowd-funding platform, Amy explains: “Throughout this entire journey so far, I have received so much support from both the women involved in the project and those simply wanting to help in anyway they can.”

“I have learnt to accept help when others have offered and realised in the process of this journey that my thoughts and views on this topic are so widely shared by those around me. Now, I’m asking for help one last time, to see this project through to completion, the production of the final book.”
